The Asian Association of Sport Management (AASM), in cooperation with Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) and the De La Salle University-Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (DLSU-RVRCOB) will hold the 14th AASM Conference with the theme: Discovering and Developing the Sport Industry Potential for Asia from August 2 to 4, 2018 at the De La Salle University, Taft campus in Manila.

The 14th AASM Conference aims to bridge practitioners and the academe from here and abroad in the field of sport management, sport marketing and sport entrepreneurship; provide a venue where various disciplines can network; and learn to apply different technical and management skills in the planning and execution of sport programs, sport clubs and enterprises.

Dr. Philip Ella Juico

Dr. Philip Ella Juico had been a Professor of Management for 20 years. In 2002, Dr. Juico was appointed Dean of the De La Salle Professional Schools Inc. Graduate School of Business (DLS PSI GSB). As a professional, Dr. Juico has gained first hand experience in the management and operation of no less than 25 organizations in both the public and private sectors. Dr. Juico is the current chairman of the Philippine Super Liga, the country's semi-pro women's volleyball league. He is also the president of the local governing body for athletics, Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association.

The Promise of SEA Games 2019
Hon. William “Butch” Ramirez, PSC Chairman

Butch Ramirez is the current Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman and is the only chairman of the country's sports authority who served for two terms, first from 2005 to 2009 under former President Arroyo, and second is from 2016 onwards under President Duterte. He was the Deputy Chef-de-Mission of the Philippine National Team who competed in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games and won the country's first overall championship title at the biennial sporting meet. He also revived the Philippine Sports Institute (PSI), an intensified grassroots sports development program among local government units, established National Training Centers in the provinces and strengthened partnerships between PSC and POC, the National Sports Associations and other sports stakeholders. Currently, he is focused on the hosting preparations of the country for the 2019 Southeast Asian Games.

Dr. Govindasamy Balasekaran, Ph.D.

Dr. Balasekaran is presently an Associate Professor at the Physical Education and Sports Science, and Sport Science and Management at the Nanyang Technological University. His research projects include physiological responses in exercise and adaptations to health and sports performance, also investigating the influence of genetic factors on exercise related outcomes. 

Sport Tourism – The Sleeping Giant
Dr. Munehiko Harada

Dr. Harada is a well-published author on sport management, sport marketing, sport tourism, and leisure studies. He has held vital positions with the National Institute of Fitness and Sport and Osaka University of Health and Sport Sciences, Asian Association for Sport Management (AASM), and Japanese Association for Sport Management (JASM) prior to taking up his current position as professor on the faculty of sport sciences at Waseda University, Tokyo.

Interventions for Life After Sports for Korean Olympians
Dr. Hyung-Il Harry Kwon, Ph.D.

Dr. Kwon graduated at Seoul National University, South Korea, in 1996, majoring in Physical Education. He acquired his Master’s Degree in Sport Management from Iowa State University, USA, and obtained his Ph.D. from Ohio State University, USA, majoring Sport Management with a cognate area in Business Marketing.

The Thai Sport Industry Act and the Rise of Pro Women’s Volleyball League
Dr. Chai Nimakorn, Ph.D.

Dr. Nimarkorn completed his study from Kasetsart University from 2012 to ‘13 in Sport Management, and previously graduated from Sasin Graduate Institute of Business Administration of Chulalongkorn University, the Executive MBA in 1988-89. And BBA in Marketing of Assumption University, Bangkok, Thailand.

JEROME ANGELITUD PORTO is a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Physical Education from the University of Santo Tomas in 1998. He obtained his Graduate diploma in Physical Education at the Philippine Normal University, Manila in 2005 and Master of Arts in Education with specialization in Physical Education in 2010.

Mr. Jeffrey Pagaduan, CSCS

Mr. Jeffrey Pagaduan is a PhD (research) student at the School of Health Sciences, University of Tasmania - Australia. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, USA. Jeffrey is the project leader for Pulse Express (mobile app for wellness monitoring) and MobiPro (low-cost fitness testing equipment).

Dr. Stella Marie Urbiztondo

Dr. Stella Marie M. Urbiztondo is a faculty member of the PE Department under the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Asia and the Pacific since 2003.

Asst. Prof. Laura Victoria Clavo De Comer is a Faculty Member Institute of Physical Education and Athletics University of Santo Tomas

Assoc. Prof. Rizaldy Hofileña

Currently a faculty member of Far Eastern University Undergraduate Studies and Physical Education Program. A dancer, performer, and dance teacher. Travelled and represented the Philippines in National and International Festivals as member of PNU-Kislap Sining Dance Troupe and Sandiwang Kayumanggi Folk Dance Troupe.

Ms. Kriza Gia R.Cawan

Kriza Gia R. Cawan is the founder and managing director of Varxity Sports Consultancy whose primary aim is to identify world class Filipino athletes. Varxity operated Milo Sports Clinic in NCR. Varxity is the owner and operator of Triple Threat Manila, a FIBA3x3 basketball specialist. She a licensed Physical Education Professional (2011) and holds a master's degree in Physical Education (2012) and Sports, bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Sports (2009) from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines.

Mr. Edward Kho

Edward Kho is affiliated with the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association as its Special Projects Director. Formerly, he took on the role of Marketing Communications Director of the federation. He spearheads the event management aspect of PATAFA's flagship projects including the annual National Open. He also helms the PATAFA Athletics Academy which implements the federation's athletics development platform across the country and talent identification program.

DLSU Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business

The College of Business, also known as Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (RVR-COB) and formerly De La Salle-Professional Schools, Inc., is one of the eight undergraduate and graduate schools of De La Salle University. It was established in 1920 as the College of Commerce when the University began offering a two-year commercial course.

 On July 25, 2011, the College was inaugurated as Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business to honor the respected alumnus and visionary businessman. Ramon V. del Rosario built the first Filipino-owned oil refinery, Filoil Refinery Corporation

CONFERENCE LOCATION

The DLSU-Taft campus consists of 19 buildings located on a 5.45 ha (13.5-acre) lot in 2401 Taft Avenue, Malate, Manila. 

DLSU Taft is near some major landmarks, such as the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas complex, the Harrison Plaza and University Mall shopping centers and the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex, where some of the sports in previous Southeast Asian Games were played. The Cultural Center of the Philippines Complex is near as well, only 1.4 km away. Located in this complex is the CCP Main Building, the Philippine International Convention Center, Folk Arts Theater, Manila Film Center, and the Harbour Square.

The University is also close to the Vito Cruz LRT 1 station and to some educational institutions, such as the main campus of Arellano UniversityDe La Salle-College of Saint Benilde, and St. Scholastica's College
