About the Conference


The Asian Association of Sport Management (AASM), in cooperation with the Sport Management Council of the Philippines (SportPhil) and the De La Salle University-Ramon V. del Rosario College of Business (DLSU-RVRCOB) will hold the 2018 AASM Conference with the theme: Discovering and Developing the Sport Industry Potential for Asia from August 2 to 4, 2018 at the De La Salle University, Taft campus.

With substantial talks by some of the leading scholars and educators in Asia and North America, this year’s AASM Conference is expected to gather international delegates from Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and the rest of Southeast Asia, and more than 500 local participants, composing of teachers, students, and coaches from UAAP and NCAA schools, as well as schools outside of Metro Manila.

3. Is there any CHED and DepEd endorsement for the event?
Yes, the conference is endorsed by CHED, you may find the endorsement copy in this link. The DepEd endorsement request is still in process. We will update you as soon as possible.

4. Is the event CPD accredited?
We are in the process of gathering the requirements to make the conference eligible for CPD units. Admittedly, acquiring the CPD is a more complicated process than applying for the DEPED/CHED endorsement. But we will do our best.

5. Is this an International event?
Yes, it is an international event under the auspices of the Asian Association for Sport Management (asiansportmanagement.com). This is their 14th conference and the first time to be held in Manila, organized by the Sport Management Council of the Philippines (sportphil.com) in partnership with the De La Salle University-Ramon V. Del Rosario College of Business.

7. Is there any certificate?
Yes, we will give out Certificates of Participation for those who will attend the conference from August 2 to 4, 2018. We will distribute them in the afternoon of Saturday, August 4.

8. What is AASM?
The 2018 AASM conference is an International event that aims to bridge local and international expertise towards the enhancement of various sport management, sport pedagogy and physical education disciplines. The objectives of the conference include:

  • To underscore the synergy between sport development and sport industry by providing viable models in sport management, athletic programs and pedagogy.
  • To provide participants with proven concepts in successful sport enterprises and institutions, including opportunities in career and education in sport media, fitness, events management, sport marketing, and the like.
  • To provide a venue where various disciplines in sports, the academe and practitioners from here and abroad can network and collaborate towards innovating sport education and development in the country.

The conference will have various lecture workshops which include: Teaching Sports, Good Practices in School Athletic Programming, Movement Therapy, Inclusive Sports for Special Groups, Fundraising for Athletes etc. There will also be a call for research abstracts and posters for relevant topics.

9. Are students in a graduate program considered as LOCAL students rate in the registration fee?
Local Students are those who are currently pursuing their undergraduate studies. Students who are taking their Masters and Doctorate degree are considered as Professional.
